What is TCS NQT?
TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) is the national level test conducted by TCS for technical and non-technical students in India. TCS offers three variants in National Qualifier Test.
- NQT
- Industry NQT
- Subject NQT
I will tell you about all the variants in detail later in this post.
TCS conducts NQT 4 times a year in February, May, August, and November. The exam can be given in two ways at the center or home. Yes, TCS allows aspirants to give NQT according to their convenience. The NQT score is valid for 2 years and accepted by many leading organizations. The test was free of charge till last year but from May 2021 it has become a paid test.
Which are TCS NQT variants?
The TCS offers 3 different variants of NQT. These are
- NQT
- Industry NQT
- Subject NQT
NQT
The cognitive skills section is a mandatory section of NQT for any variant. Whether you opt for subject NQT or Industry NQT you need to compulsorily buy the Cognitive skills section.
The cognitive skills section tests your verbal ability, reasoning ability, and numerical ability. The cost of the cognitive skills section is 599/- INR.
Along with cognitive skills TCS also offers Attitudinal Alignment NQT (Psychometric Test) which assesses personality traits and personal behavior. It costs 399/- INR.
Industry NQT
It is an optional variant offered by TCS. Industry NQT tests awareness and understanding on industry-specific topics like
- Industry structure
- Operative language
- Regulating environment
- Specific business & technological trends
- Competitive landscapes
Industry NQT offers 2 sections Information Technology and Banking Financial Services which both cost 399/- INR each.
Subject NQT
This NQT variant is also optional but can help IT, aspirants, for Jobs. Subject NQT assesses students on Knowledge that is pseudocodes, algorithms, SDLC and its stage-wise documents, implementation using C, C++, and Java. Also, it has hands in exercise which you can solve using C, C++, Java, Python3, and Pearl anyone of these languages.
This variant has 3 tests IT programming, Basic Computer Skills, and Accountant which costs 399/- INR each.

- Who can apply?
All the graduates from 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 batches and future graduates of 2021, 2022, 2023 batches can apply. The score will be valid for 2 years. If you have previously given NQT you can again appear to improve your score

- How to Register?
Click on the application link above. Register yourself and click on the apply now button. Buy the suitable NQT variant or pack. The select medium between online or offline. Take the test on the exam date. With a standard score apply to various jobs as per eligibility criteria.
- Last Date to Apply
TCS will not be accepting applications for NQT 15 days prior to the exam date.
- When will I Receive Hall Ticket?
If you have opted for an online assessment you will receive the login credentials 2 days before the actual exam date on your registered Email.
If you opt for an on-center assessment you will receive the hall ticket 2 days prior to your actual exam date on your registered Email.

If you are from any of the batches between 2017 to 2023 you can apply for TCS NQT. The last date will be 15 days before the examination date. Select appropriate variants according to your requirement and career choice. I would recommend you to choose any one of the new plans offered by TCS. The exam will be in August and November 2021.
